How to use Image Compressor

  1. 1Add the images you want to shrink (JPG, PNG or WebP).
  2. 2Choose a quality level, or set an optional target file size in MB.
  3. 3Click Compress; each image is re-encoded locally on your device.
  4. 4Compare the before/after sizes, then download individually or as a ZIP.

How it works

Add your images, choose a quality level or a target file size, and each image is re-encoded on your device. You'll see the original size, the compressed size, and the exact percentage saved for every file.

The original dimensions are preserved unless you explicitly choose a maximum size, so images stay sharp.

Quality vs. target size

Use the quality slider for direct control, or set a target file size and the compressor will iterate to get as close as possible while keeping the image usable.

For photos, a quality around 75–85% typically cuts file size dramatically with no visible difference. Flat graphics and screenshots often compress even further.

Why compress images

Smaller images load faster, improve Core Web Vitals, save bandwidth, and make email attachments and uploads painless.

Because compression runs locally, you can process sensitive images — receipts, documents, personal photos — without them ever leaving your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every conversion runs locally in your browser using your device's own processor. Your images never leave your computer or phone, and nothing is stored on our servers.

Which formats can I compress?

JPG, PNG and WebP. Each file is compressed in its original format, so a PNG stays a PNG and a JPG stays a JPG. To change format, use one of the dedicated converters.

Can I hit an exact target file size?

You can set a target and the compressor will get as close as it can by adjusting quality. Exact sizes aren't guaranteed because image content determines how far it can compress, but the result is usually within a small margin.

Will compression blur my image?

At sensible quality levels the change is invisible. Very aggressive settings can introduce artefacts, which is why the before/after preview lets you check the result before downloading.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Drop or select multiple files and they'll be processed in a controlled queue so your browser stays responsive. Each file shows its own progress, and you can download them individually or all together as a ZIP.
